Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does a nurse advocate do?
A nurse advocate helps you feel less overwhelmed and more in control of your healthcare. We make sure you understand what's happening, what questions to ask, and what to do next. Whether you're managing your own care or someone else's, we help you prepare for appointments, organize information, follow up with providers, and make confident decisions so you're never stuck doing it alone.
Do you provide medical treatment or diagnoses?
No. Clarity Care offers non-clinical, nurse-led support. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide direct medical care. Our role is to educate, guide, and advocate. You should always consult your licensed provider for diagnosis or treatment.
Can you talk to my doctor or provider on my behalf?
Yes, with your written consent. If you've ever felt rushed in an appointment, forgotten to mention something important, or struggled to get follow-up calls returned, this service can be a game-changer. We can help communicate updates, clarify instructions, ask the hard questions, and make sure your care team stays on the same page--so you don't have to chase answers or repeat yourself over and over.
*Please note* Communication with your primary care provider is always included as part of our standard services with any session purchased. However, if you'd like us to coordinate care across multiple specialists, such as your cardiologist, GI doctor, hospitalist, and/or Mental Health provider, that level of extended support is available for an additional fee.
Do you take insurance?
Not at this time. Clarity Care is a private-pay service. However, many clients use HSA/FSA funds, and we're happy to provide documentation to support reimbursement if applicable.
How do I know if I need this kind of service?
If you've ever left a doctor's office overwhelmed, trying to manage your health--or someone else's--you're not alone. We help when things start to feel confusing, like prepping for a big appointment, juggling multiple doctors, sorting out medications, or figuring out insurance and medical bills. If you've ever left a visit more confused than when you walked in, or felt like you're doing this all alone, that's exactly when we step in.
What's the difference between a one-time session and a membership?
A one-time session offers focused support for a specific need, like preparing for an upcoming appointment or reviewing medical paperwork. Memberships provide ongoing guidance, messaging support, and continuity over time, ideal for managing chronic conditions or caregiving.
Do you only work with people who are sick or recently hospitalized?
Not at all. While we often support people after hospital stays or during complex health situations, we also work with those who just want help staying on top of things. That includes young adults managing chronic conditions, new diagnoses, mental health care coordination, or even just trying to navigate insurance for the first time. You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support, you just have to want clarity in a system that rarely offers it.
Can you attend my appointments with me?
Yes, virtually or in person, depending on your location. We can also help you prepare questions, organize your notes, and debrief afterward to make sure you feel clear and confident.
Can you help me with my insurance or medical bills?
Yes, yes, we can. We can help you make sense of your insurance coverage, medical bills, and any confusing paperwork you've received. That includes reviewing Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), clarifying what was or wasn't covered, and helping you prepare questions or appeals to discuss with your insurer.
While we don't submit claims or act as a billing service, we do offer guidance and education to help you feel more confident navigating the financial side of your care.
